The situation in MITROVICA still remains tense. The region has already
been reinforced and further steps are in progress. The curfew was in effect
from 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs in MITROVICA city.
GRENADE ATTACK
At 0830 hrs, unidentified suspect(s) threw a hand grenade at a house
owned by Serb in LIPLJAN. There was substantial damage to the house. No
injuries were reported.
ROBBERY
At 2200 hrs, two unidentified suspects robbed an Albanian male of cash
and a valuable item in ULPIJANA. UNMIK Police is conducting the investigation.
ARSON
At 2001 hrs, an unoccupied house was set on fire in the village of
MATICANE. Fire brigade and UNMIK Police responded to the scene. The remains of
Molotov cocktails were found on the balcony. The house was previously occupied
by Serbs. UNMIK Police is conducting the investigation.
ARRESTS
Three suspects were arrested within the past 24 hours in PRISTINA Region.
A suspect was arrested for committing burglary, 1 for house occupation and 1
detention ordered by Judge.

ATTEMPTED MURDER
At 1500 hrs, an Albanian male shot and wounded another Albanian male in
UROSEVAC. The victim was transported to the hospital in PRISTINA. Later, the
suspect walked into the Police Station and brandished a 9 mm weapon stating
that he had just killed someone. The suspect was arrested. The case is under
investigation.
ARRESTS
Seven individuals were arrested. KFOR arrested an individual for assault.
UNMIK Police arrested 6 individuals: four – for attempted kidnapping, one – for
reckless driving and one – for posing threats.

MISSING PERSON
At 1429 hrs, a Roma male in PRIZREN reported that another Roma male was missing since 09/02/00. The case is under investigation.
ARRESTS
Eight individuals were arrested. KFOR arrested 6 individuals for curfew
violations. UNMIK Police arrested 2 individuals: 1 for murder / attempted
murder and 1 for theft.

The following incidents
occurred on 13/02/00
NOTE: Throughout the day
UNMIK Police were busy evacuating civilians from dangerous areas and providing
other services. All routine activities, including reporting, were limited to
the necessary minimum.
GRENADE ATTACK / SHOOTING
At around 0800 hrs, an explosion was heard in the area north of the second bridge in MITROVICA. The units were dispatched and reported a grenade attack. Several persons were injured. Crowds started to form near the bridges. Gunfire was heard from both sides of the river. Two French KFOR soldiers were wounded. A crowd of Albanians attempted to cross the river. No further information at the time of this report.
ARSON (UNMIK Police Property)
The accommodation, Mitrovica North, of an UNMIK Police officer was burnt completely with all his belongings inside.
SNIPER ATTACK
In the afternoon, KFOR informed that an Albanian sniper was shot and died at the hospital in MITROVICA. More than 33 former KLA / UCK members were arrested by KFOR during the day.
The following incidents occurred on 14/02/00
ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPON
At 0800 hrs, Belgian KFOR stopped a vehicle at a checkpoint in MITROVICA South. Two occupants of the vehicle (male Albanians) were found in possession of 2 pistols, ammo and Motorola handset. Both suspects were released.
AMBULANCE FOUND WITH WEAPONS
At 1336 hrs, an ambulance was
involved in a traffic accident 200m from a Belgian KFOR checkpoint on the main
road from PRISTINA to MITROVICA near NOVO SELO. Upon arrival at the scene,
UNMIK Police found the abandoned ambulance loaded with weapons and ammo.
Fourteen grenade launchers, 182 grenades for grenade launchers, 6 boxes of
7.62mm ammo, 4 hand grenades were found inside. The ambulance belongs to NGO
“CESVI – Mission in Kosovo”. All items were handed over to French KFOR

The following incidents occurred on 13/02/00
MURDER
At 0300 hrs, an Albanian male (27 year old) was shot and killed in the
village of KOSURIC. The victim was the suspect of murder that occurred on
12/02/00 in the region. There were no suspects at the time of this report.
KIDNAPPING
At 2045 hrs, a Bosnian female was kidnapped by an unidentified male suspect in DAKOVICA. KFOR located the victim in KLINA. KFOR is conducting the investigation.
INTIMIDATION / THREATS
At 1730 hrs, six unidentified suspects threatened a Roma male in PEC. UNMIK Police is conducting the investigation.
EXPLOSION / ARSON
During the night, there was an explosion that occurred outside of a house owned by an Albanian in DAKOVICA. A fire ensued and destroyed the house. There were no suspects at the time of this report.
The following incident occurred on 14/02/00
HOUSE FIRE
At 0100 hrs, there was a house fire in PEC. Fire brigade responded and extinguished the fire. Three members (Albanians) of the same family died in the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that a candle left unattended was the cause of fire.
