THE
GENERAL SITUATION IN THE MISSION AREA
The following
incidents occurred on 19 February.
CRIMINAL
DAMAGE
The
Deputy of Serbian Mission for Cooperation with UN informed that unidentified
suspects damaged the metal fence of the Serbian Office in ULPIJANA.
INTIMIDATION
At
1740 hrs, three suspects threatened an Albanian male in ULPIJANA. The suspects
warned the victim his residence would be bombed if he did not vacate it. The
suspects claimed to be former KLA members. This was the second incident
committed by the same group.
ARRESTS
Nine
persons were arrested within the past 24 hours in Pristina Region. Five
suspects were arrested for murder, two for threatening behavior and two for
attempted auto theft.
ROBBERY
At
1800 hrs, two unidentified suspects threatened a Serb male with a knife and
robbed him of money in PODUJEVO. The suspects also took his documents. At the
time of the incident, the victim was on his way from Serbia to the brick
factory in PODUJEVO with a load of
bricks.
The following
incidents occurred on 20 February
GRIEVOUS
ASSAULT
At
2030 hrs, KFOR reported to UNMIK Police that an identified suspect (Albanian)
stabbed two Albanian males near the village of ORLANE.
BOMB ATTACK
At
2020 hrs, unidentified suspects threw a homemade bomb at a Serb owned house in
KOSOVO POLJE. The house was damaged but there were no injuries reported.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION
OF WEAPON
At
1600 hrs, KFOR found an Albanian male in possession of a grenade in OBILIC. The
suspect was arrested.
ASSAULT
At
1630 hrs, two intoxicated KPC/TMK members demonstrated threatening behavior
against a KFOR interpreter in GLOGOVAC. The suspects also threw bottles and
assaulted the victim. Both suspects were arrested.
DRUNK DRIVING
At
0230 hrs, a driver (French) was stopped and arrested for speeding and driving
while impaired. The suspect resisted arrest. He has reportedly been working for
an NGO “PREMIER URGENT”.
ARRESTS
Eight
suspects were arrested within the past 24 hours in PRISTINA Region. A suspect
was arrested for assaulting a police officer, one for driving while impaired
and resisting arrest, six for armed robbery.

The following
incidents occurred on 18 February
GRIEVOUS
ASSAULT
At
1630 hrs, unidentified snipers shot six times at a Russian KFOR patrol in
KAMENICA area. One Russian soldier sustained two bullet wounds to his legs and
was transported to the hospital.
GRENADE ATTACK
At
1830 hrs, a hand grenade was thrown at a business premises owned by an Albanian
male in VITINA. Reportedly, the suspects also shot at a window. No injuries
were reported and there was minor damage to the building.
The following
incidents occurred on 19 February.
ASSAULT
At
1200 hrs, an Albanian female was assaulted by an unidentified Albanian male in
GNJILANE. According to the victim, she was attacked because she was seen talking
to an American KFOR soldier.
AT
2000 hrs, an Albanian male was assaulted by two male suspects in GNJILANE.
UNMIK Police identified and arrested one suspect.
ARRESTS
Ten persons were arrested within the
past 24 hours in GNJILANE REGION. KFOR arrested seven individuals for curfew
violations and one for illegal possession of weapons. UNMIK Police arrested one
suspect for assault and another for theft. All arrestees were Albanian.
The following
incidents occurred on 20 February.
GRENADE
ATTACK
At
1630 hrs, two grenades were thrown in the courtyard of a Serb owned house in
GNJILANE. Four windows were broken. No injuries reported. The owner received a
phone call following the incident. The caller told him, “this was done by UCK”.
BURGLARY
An
Albanian employee of “DYNCORP” reported that the office of the company in
GNJILANE was burglarized. The front door had been forced open and an
undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
ARRESTS
Ten
persons were arrested within the past 24 hours. Seven were arrested by KFOR for
curfew violation. UNMIK Police arrested two for assault and one for theft.

FOR 19 FEBRUARY DUE TO COMMUNICATIONS FAILURES.
The
following incidents occurred on 20 February.
MISSING
PERSON
At
2000 hrs, a Serb female reported that her husband (Serb) has been missing since
19 February in ORAHOVAC. The victim was last seen by his son on that date.
ARRESTS
Twelve
individuals were arrested within the past 24 hours in Prizren. KFOR arrested 11
for curfew violations and UNMIK Police arrested one for DWI.

The following
incident occurred on 19 February.
KIDNAPPING/RAPE
An
Albanian male from the village of TURICEVAC reported that his 16-year-old
daughter was missing since 10 February and was last seen in SRBICA. On 19
February the girl was located by her father and brought to UNMIK Police
station. According to the victim, she was kidnapped and repeatedly raped by two
unidentified suspects.
MURDER
At
1700 hrs, a fight broke out between three neighbors (all male Serbs) over a
petty dispute in the village of G. JASENOVIK.
One of the men stabbed the other two with a knife. One man later died
from his wounds. The next day, the suspect surrendered himself to UNMIK Police
and handed over the murder weapon.
The following
incidents occurred on 20 February.
ILLEGAL
POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
Three
rifles, 2 Ak-47’s, one grenade and numerous ammunition were confiscated by KFOR
and UNMIK Police at the Technical school in MITROVICA North.
UNMIK
police confiscated a rifle with a grenade launcher and ammunition from a male
Serb in MITROVICA North.
Two
male Serbs turned in two rifles and ammunition in MITROVICA North.
At
0930 hrs, KFOR seized a pistol and ammunition from an Albanian male in
MITROVICA South.
ASSAULT
At
1300 hrs, an Albanian male assaulted another Albanian male with an axe,
following a dispute over a water line. The victim was transported to the
hospital.
ARSON
At
0300 hrs, the house of an Albanian male burned down in VUCITRN. The cause of
the fire is unknown at this time.
At
2100 hrs, a blacksmith’s shop and a carpenter’s shop was burned in SRBICA. The
cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The following
incidents occurred on 18 February.
ILLEGAL
POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
At
2330 hrs, an identified male (ethnicity not ascertained) started to shoot
inside a restaurant in PEC causing minor property damage. No one was injured.
The suspect was arrested and the pistol was confiscated.
ARSON
A
Roma male reported that unidentified perpetrators set a vacant premise attached
to his house on fire during the night in DAKOVICA. The fire brigade
extinguished the fire and detained two persons for stealing property from the
basement of the house.

GRIEVOUS
ASSAULT
At
2010 hrs, an Albanian male sustained two gunshot wounds and was evacuated to
the hospital in VITOMIRICA. A Bosnian male was arrested and a handgun was
confiscated from him.
At
2045 hrs, unidentified suspects shot at an Albanian male in PEC. The victim was
hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his leg.
ILLEGAL
POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
During
a search operation in D. STREOC, KFOR confiscated three AK-47 rifles, two
rifles and ammunition. Three Albanian males were arrested.
INTIMIDATION
At
1530 hrs, two Bosnian males were threatened by an Albanian male in PEC. The
incident occurred over a borrowed money dispute.
ASSAULT
At
2045 hrs, an Albanian male was assaulted by another Albanian male in PEC. The
victim sustained injuries to his head.
At
2100 hrs, an Albanian male assaulted another Albanian male and damaged the
window of his car in PEC.
THERE WERE NO
SIGNIFICANT CRIMINAL INCIDENTS REPORTED FOR 20 FEBRUARY.

PRISTINA AIRPORT
On
19 February, an Albanian female was deported from Switzerland as a stolen
German Residence Permit was found in her passport. The passport was
confiscated. Another Albanian female was refused authority to depart the
airport for possessing a false passport.
