SECURITY OVERVIEW

 

THE GENERAL SITUATION IN THE MITROVIA AREA IS STILL TENSE.

 

PRISTINA REGION

 

ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS

At 1220 hrs, UNMIK Police along with KFOR conducted a search operation in PRISTINA. They confiscated four handguns and ammunition. Five Albanian suspects were arrested.

 

MISSING PERSON

At 1700 hrs, a complainant reported that his son (Albanian) has been missing since 21 February. The victim had left his house to participate in the road march from Pristina to Mitrovica and did not return home.

 

ARRESTS

Five suspects were arrested within the past 24 hours in Pristina Region. Three suspects were arrested for aggravated assault and illegal possession of weapons, one for assault and criminal damage and one for murder.

GNJILANE REGION

 

ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS

At 1400 hrs, KFOR confiscated two SKS rifles with bayonets and ammunition from two Albanian males in KRAVARICA.

 

KIDNAPPING

At 1330 hrs, a 16-year-old Albanian female reported that she was forced into a vehicle and taken to the apartment of an unknown suspect in UROSEVAC. The victim was physically assaulted.

 

ARMED ROBBERY

At 1034 hrs, an Albanian male reported that unknown male suspects wearing masks and armed with knives entered his home in UROSEVAC. The suspects took a large sum of money. The complainant’s son chased the suspects whose vehicle ran into a ditch. The suspects then fled on foot. The suspects names and identification were found inside the vehicle.

 

At 0230 hrs, a complainant reported that two armed males wearing ski masks (one armed with a machine gun and the other with a knife) entered a gas station in UROSEVAC. The suspects tied up the victims, smashed furniture and stole an undisclosed sum of money.

 

ARRESTS

Three individuals were arrested in GNJILANE Region. UNMIK Police arrested an individual for theft and two for assault.

PRIZREN REGION

 

THEFT

At 1430 hrs, four Albanian males were arrested for stealing fifteen metal beds, one car carrier, one vehicle luggage rack, and one car jack from an abandoned Serb house in the village of SREDSKA.

 

JOINT OPERATION

At 0930 hrs, UNMIK Police and the SUVA REKA Forest Company conducted a joint operation at the Market area in PRIZREN to identify illegal woodcutters. Ten individuals were identified as selling wood without a permit. The wood was confiscated.

 

ARRESTS

UNMIK Police arrested four individuals for looting within the past 24 hours in Prizren Region

MITROVICA REGION

 

HOUSE OCCUPATION

There were eleven incidents of illegal house occupations within the past 48 hours in MITROVICA North.

 

ASSAULT

Two identified Albanian males assaulted another Albanian male in MITROVICA South.

 

ILLEGAL POSSESSSION OF WEAPONS

KFOR along with UNMIK Police confiscated two guns, magazines and two grenades in MITROVICA North.

PEC REGION

 

MURDER

At 2100 hrs, unknown individuals called an Albanian male outside his house in DAKOVICA and shot 8 times with an AK-47 rifle. The victim died of gunshot wounds. There are no witnesses or a motive at this time.

 

ARSON

At 0030 hrs, an Albanian male reported that his vehicle was set on fire in DAKOVICA. The vehicle was parked in front of the complainant’s house at the time of the incident.

BORDER POLICE

 

PRISTINA AIRPORT

Thirteen individuals were deported from Switzerland to Pristina. The individuals had been staying illegally in Switzerland.

 

ATTEMPTED ILLEGAL ENTRY

On 21 February at 1330 hrs, KFOR troops shot warning shots while two males attempted to enter into KOSOVO from Albania on the southwest side of the border in the mountains. The suspects retreated to Albania.
