The general situation in the mission area remained calm. NO REPORT FROM

The following incident
occurred on 23/02/00
ARMED ROBBERY (NGO Property)
At 1750 hrs, while distributing aid materials on behalf of “Mother Teresa” Organization (NGO), three identified Albanian suspects (1 male & 2 females) took some items in force in PODUJEVO. At the time of the incident, a suspect pointed a gun at the victim. UNMIK Police is conducting the investigation.
The following incidents
occurred on 24/02/00
ARSON
At 1920 hrs, unidentified suspect(s) threw a Molotov cocktail at the window of a house belonging to an Albanian in KOSOVO POLJE. There was a small fire. However, no injuries were reported.
DEMONSTRATION
At 1335 hrs, there was a crowd of approximately 40 Albanians in front of
the former police Station in OBILIC. The participants questioned the alleged
physical assault upon an Albanian male by KFOR. No further incidents were
reported.
MINE ACCIDENT
At 0900 hrs, while collecting wood in PODUJEVO, an Albanian male stepped
on a land mine. The mine detonated and the victim died at the spot. UNMIK
Police with the assistance of KFOR EOD, conducting the investigating.
ARRESTS
Twelve individuals were arrested within the past 24 hours in
PRISTINA Region. Five individuals were arrested for attempted criminal felony,
three individuals were arrested for illegal possession of weapon and four
individuals were arrested for burglary.

The following incidents occurred on 23/02/00
GRENADE ATTACK
At 2355 hrs, a grenade was detonated at an Albanian owned shoe shop in
KACANIK. No injuries were reported. The building and some merchandise were
damaged. The case is under investigation.

GRENADE ATTACK
At 2100 hrs, unidentified suspects threw a hand grenade into a restaurant in ORAHOVAC. The ethnicity of the owner was not ascertained. No injuries were reported but the building and the furniture were damaged. The case is under investigation.
BURGLARY
An Albanian male reported that unidentified suspect(s) broke into his jewelry shop in PRIZREN and tried to open a safe box but failed. One item was stolen. The safe was damaged. No suspects were identified. The case is under investigation.
ASSAULT
At 1100 hrs, an Albanian male reported that an identified Albanian male had assaulted him in SUVA REKA. After the assault, another identified Albanian male struck him to the ground and hit him with a hand grenade. No injuries were reported. The case is under investigation.
ARRESTS
KFOR arrested twelve individuals. Ten were arrested for curfew violation

The following incident
occurred on 23/02/00
ARMED ROBBERY
At 2100 hrs, an Italian national working with “CESVI” NGO reported that in PEC three unidentified suspects wearing black masks armed with two pistols and one AK-47 entered their office through a window and stole 20,448 DM. No arrests were made.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
At 1700 hrs, KFOR confiscated ammunition hidden inside of several cigarette boxes in a vehicle in BANJA. Four Albanian males were arrested.
ARSON
At 2130 hrs, unknown suspect(s) set an abandoned house owned by a Serb on fire in MILOVANAC. KFOR firemen extinguished the blaze.
No significant criminal incidents were reported for 24/02/00.

“GLOBOCICA” Border Crossing
On 23/02/00 at 1645 hrs, about 20 individuals attacked a Turkish bus in
the border crossing. The incident occurred in protest of an assault caused by a
passenger. The crowd hurled stones at the bus. On interrogation, both the
victim and the suspect were released.
