Mission
area remained calm within the past 24 hours, although tension was still
prevalent in MITROVICA City.
ARSON / FIRE
At 1900 hrs, a fire started at a lower part of “Boro
Ramizi” sport center in PRISTINA. The UN Fire service and numerous KFOR units
have responded to the scene. UNMIK Police secured the area. The fire was at a
storage area, where some gas bottles and diesel fuel tanks had been kept. The
fire brigade made several attempts to enter the building but have been driven
back. At the time of this report the fire is still burning and its cause is
unknown.
ARRESTS
One
individual was arrested within the past 24 hours in PRISTINA Region for auto
theft.

ASSAULT
At 1700 hrs an Albanian male reported that another
Albanian male had assaulted him in GNJILANE. UNMIK Police responded and
arrested the suspect. The case is under investigation.
ARRESTS
Sixteen individuals were arrested. KFOR arrested 9
individuals. UNMIK Police arrested 7 individuals: three – for burglary, two –
for disorderly conduct and two – for assault.

GRENADE ATTACK
At 0130 hrs, unidentified suspect(s) threw a hand
grenade at an Albanian owned restaurant in ORAHOVAC (Grid: DM 71 94). No
injuries were reported. The case is under investigation.
ASSAULT

At 0700 hrs, an unidentified Albanian male assaulted another Albanian
male with an iron bar in MALISEVO (Grid: DN 790 030). The victim sustained
injuries and required medical attention. The case is under investigation.

At 1500 hrs, two unidentified suspects assaulted an Albanian male in the
village of PLAVA (Grid: DM 708 606). Allegedly, the victim was mistakenly
blamed for a traffic accident. No injuries were reported. The case is under
investigation.

At 1800 hrs, several juveniles assaulted an Albanian male in SUVA REKA
(Grid: DM 855 895). One of the suspects was identified. The case is under
investigation.
ILLEGAL COLLECTION OF WEAPONS
At 0900 hrs UNMIK Police detained an identified
Albanian male in DRAGASH for collection of weapons. Later on, a thorough house
search was conducted in a suspect’s house. The suspect was brought to PRIZREN
for further investigation.
ARRESTS
Thirteen individuals were arrested. KFOR arrested 9
individuals for curfew violation. UNMIK Police arrested 4 individuals: three –
for assault and one – for illegal collection of weapon.

ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPON

During a search operation, UNMIK Police along with KFOR confiscated two
SKS rifles, an AK-47 and ammunition from a male Serb in the village of VRACEVO
(Grid: DN 728 121).

UNMIK Police and KFOR seized seventeen assorted firearms and ammunition
at a male Serb residence in the village of BELO BRDO (Grid: DN 878 120).
ILLEGAL HOUSE OCCUPATION
There were seven reports about illegal house
occupation within the past 24 hours. In all cases Albanian owned property was
occupied by Serbs in MITROVICA North. UNMIK Police are investigating.
DEMONSTRATION
Several thousands Serbs attended a demonstration in
the center of MITROVICA North. No incidents were encountered.

ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING At 1515 hrs, a 9 year old Albanian girl reported that
on her way home from school in KLINA (Grid: 660 190) four unknown Albanian
males tried to kidnap her.

ATTEMPTED MURDER
At
0800 hrs, two Roma juveniles (10 and 11 year old) were walking across the
bridge (Grid: DN 660-190) in KLINA when two Albanian males grabbed one of them
and threw him off the bridge. The victim was checked at the hospital, one
Albanian male was arrested.
ASSAULT
At 1515 hrs a Bosnian male was reportedly
assaulted when he entered an Albanian owned shop in PEC. No injuries were
reported.
THREATS/INTIMIDATION
At
1230 hrs, four students came to school with knifes and pistols and had
threatened teachers and fired several warning shots.
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY
At
1610 hrs, in BANJA (Grid: DN 550 305) two male Albanian suspects were trying to
rob a male Albanian taxi driver with a simulated pistol. The taxi driver
stopped in front of KFOR and UNMIK Police and the suspects were arrested.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
At
0800 hrs, in CRNOBREG (Grid: DN 420 090) KFOR and UNMIK Police searched a
vehicle where one hand grenade was recovered.

At 1630 hrs, KFOR
confiscated two hand grenades from an Albanian male in PEC. The suspect was
arrested.
The following incident occurred on
24/02/00
FATAL ACCIDENT
At
2130 hrs a 14 year old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was
crossing the road to VITOMORICA (Grid:
DN 455 260) The unlicensed Albanian driver took the girl to the hospital and
reported the incident to UNMIK Police.
ARRESTS
Four
individuals were arrested within the past 24 hours. Two suspects were arrested
for armed robbery, one for illegal possession of weapons and one for assault.

Two persons were refused to depart due to false
passports.
