Gnjilane Region : Weapons cache found in a K-Serb house. Prizren Region : K-Albanians demonstrate against war crime verdict. Pec Region : Three Albanian males arrested for illegal weapon sale. Mitrovica Region: 21 KFOR soldiers reported to be injured in riots. PRISTINA Region =============== :: SHOOTING :: Pristina Town - 31/01 - 1930 hrs. During a fight between four unknown males one shot was fired. All suspects involved then fled the scene. A nearby house was slightly damaged. No injuries were reported. Evidence was recovered at the scene. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation. GNJILANE Region =============== :: ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS :: Kamenica Town - 31/01 - 1600hrs. A joint search operation of a K-Serb house conducted by UNMIK Police and KFOR resulted in the seizure of two assault rifles, an automatic rifle with a grenade launcher, another rifle and a large amount of ammunition. A K-Serb KPS officer who is the owner of the house was suspended from duty pending an internal inquiry. ASSAULT * Vitina Town - 31/01 - 1255hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested after slapping a KPS officer while being questioned. The suspect was reported to be mentally ill. No injuries were reported. * Gnjilane - 30/01 - 1430hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested after assaulting a KPS officer who was trying to calm a domestic situation. No injuries were reported. UXO FOUND Kamenica Town - 31/01 -1430 hrs. Three K-Albanian children found a hand grenade in the back of a refugee building. KFOR EOD responded and disposed of the ordnance. No injuries were reported. PRIZREN Region ============== :: DEMONSTRATION :: Prizren Town- 31/01 - 1305/1430 hrs. A peaceful but unauthorized demonstration by approximately 60-70 persons concerning the war crimes verdict rendered 29/01 has taken place in front of Prizren District Court. Later the crowd proceeded to the UNMIK administration building. The demonstration ended around 1430 hrs; no incidents were reported. PEC Region ========== :: ILLEGAL WEAPON SALE :: Pec - 31/01 - 1900 hrs. UNMIK Police arrested three Albanian males and recovered a revolver after a tip off from members of the public regarding illegal arms sale. ARMED ROBBERY Dakovica Town - 30/01 - 1930 hrs. Two unknown armed and masked males robbed a K-Albanian male employee of a local pharmacy of cash and a mobile phone. No injuries were reported. SHOOTING Lozane Village, Pec - 30/01 - 2130 hrs. A K-Albanian male reported that whilst walking with his cousin, they heard sounds of automatic gunfire. A bullet hit his cousin causing minor injuries. Investigation continuing. MITROVICA Region ================ :: RIOT :: Mitrovica South - 31/01 - 1500 to 0700 hrs. A group of approximately 400 persons approached the Main Bridge and UNMIK headquarters and prepared to throw petrol bombs. When KFOR intervened the rioters threw hand grenades at the soldiers. A number of 21 KFOR personnel were reported to be injured during the riot; one of them seriously but not life-threatening. KFOR brought the situation under control. ATTEMPTED MURDER Mitrovica South - 31/01 - 2130 hrs. Two unknown male suspects driving a motor vehicle shot a Montenegro male who was driving his truck. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital where his condition is presently listed as unstable. ASSAULT Mitrovica North - 27/01 - 1415 hrs. Two K-Albanian males were standing in front of their home when a van containing eight unknown male suspects stopped in front of the home, exited the vehicle and began to assault the victims. One of the victims sustained a minor head injury during the physical assault. ARSON * Vucitrn - 31/01 - 1300 hrs. Unknown person(s) set two K-Serb houses on fire. The local Fire Brigade responded. No injuries were reported. * Mitrovica South - 29/01 - 1800 hrs. A K-Albanian male reported that an unknown number of K-Serbian males set fire to his home. No injuries were reported. BORDER Police ============= PRISTINA AIRPORT ---------------- FALSE DOCUMENTS 30/01 - 1130 hrs. A K-Albanian attempted to exit Kosovo using a false Croatian passport and identity card. The documents were seized and exit denied. GENERAL JANKOVIC ---------------- STOLEN PASSPORT 30/01 - 1500 hrs. A K-Albanian male attempted to leave Kosovo using a Yugoslavian passport that was reported stolen. The document was seized and exit denied. VRBNICA ------- FORGED PASSPORT 30/01. Two K-Albanian males attempted to cross the border using false documents. The documents were seized. CAFA PRUSHIT ------------ ILLEGAL BORDER CROSSING 30/01. Three Albanians and one K-Albanian male were caught attempting to cross the border through the minefield. INCIDENT OVERVIEW 31.
