THE GENERAL SITUATION IN THE
MISSION AREA REMAINS STABLE.
The following incident
occurred on 27/01/00.
GRENADE ATTACK (OSCE Facilities)
At 2300 hrs, unidentified suspect(s) threw a grenade
at a building belonging to OSCE in PRISTINA. The grenade was thrown through a
window, which caused damages to a room. Initial investigation revealed that the
possible target was a room that has been used for the ‘Trade Union for the
Kosovo Police Service’. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
UNMIK Police are conducting the investigation.
The following
incidents occurred on 28/01/00.
GRENADE ATTACK
At 1750 hrs, there was a grenade attack at a house
owned by a Roma in LIPLJAN. The grenade exploded in the yard of the residence
and caused minor damages to the property. However, no injuries were reported.
UNMIK Police are conducting the investigation.
GRIEVOUS ASSAULT
At 1250 hrs, while trying to stop a fight between
two Albanians, a shop owner (Albanian) was hit by a metal stick in PODUJEVO.
The victim was evacuated to a hospital. No arrests were made. UNMIK Police are
conducting the investigation.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPON
At 2000 hrs, an Albanian was arrested for illegal
possession of weapon in GRACANICA.
ARRESTS
Three individuals were arrested within the past 24
hours in PRISTINA. One individual was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
One suspect was arrested for burglary and an individual for illegal possession
of weapon.
KIDNAPPING
At
1820 hrs UNMIK Police was informed that an Albanian male kidnapped his
ex-girlfriend from her home. The suspect resides in the village of UGLJARE.
UNMIK Police checked the residence and released the victim. The suspect was
arrested.
ASSAULT
At
1500 hrs an Albanian male, driving fast, nearly hit an Albanian male, while the
last was crossing the road in KAMENICA. Words were exchanged and the driver
assaulted the pedestrian. UNMIK Police and KFOR responded, however, no arrests
were made.
ARRESTS
UNMIK Police arrested an
individual for kidnapping.
ILLEGAL
POSSESSION OF WEAPON

At 1600 hrs, after a
short chase outside of DRAGASH , an Albanian male was found in possession of an
AK-47. The suspect was arrested. The search of his residence resulted in
several items from humanitarian aid found. The case is under investigation.

At 1830 hrs, following
the arrest of the abovementioned suspect, UNMIK Police searched a shop, owned
by a suspect’s friend (male Albanian). An AK-47’s clip with 30 rounds was found
under the counter. The suspect was arrested, but later released.
GRENADE
FOUND
At
0800 hrs, an Albanian male found a grenade inside the rest room of his father’s
restaurant in SUVA REKA. The pin of the grenade was located outside of the
restaurant. KFOR EOD responded and exploded the grenade. No suspects were
identified. The case is under investigation.
ASSAULT
At
0000 hrs, UNMIK Police in PRIZREN was informed that a Turkish female was
assaulted by her husband. The victim sustained injuries. The case is under
investigation.
ILLEGAL
BORDER CROSSING
At
1000 hrs Turkish KFOR detained 17 Albanians for illegal border crossing in the
village of KRUSEVO. UNMIK Police took their statements, photos and
fingerprints. The Albanians were released at the MORINA border crossing.
LOOTING
At
1330 hrs KFOR stopped a male Albanian, while he was trying to take some items
out of a non-inhabited Serb house. The case is under investigation.
ARRESTS
Fifteen
persons were arrested in PRIZREN Region. KFOR arrested 12 individuals for
curfew violation. UNMIK Police arrested 3 individuals: two – for illegal
possession of weapon and one – for driving while intoxicated.
THREATENING BEHAVIOR
A Serb female living in
MITROVICA North reported that she had been threatened by her Serbian neighbor,
who demanded her to move out, or she would be killed.
ILLEGAL HOUSE OCCUPATION
An Albanian male reported that he had left his flat
in MITROVICA North for two days
and when he returned the apartment was
found occupied by other Albanians.

ILLEGAL
POSSESSION OF WEAPON
At
2250 hrs, KFOR patrol arrested three Albanian males in possession of a rifle
found in their vehicle in PEC.

30 JANUARY 2000: Mist and freezing fog patches slowly clearing but generally
cloudy with only a few sunny spells but some light snow or sleet at times.
Winds light and variable. Minimum temperature - 05 C; maximum temperature + 10
C.
