Gnjilane Region : Two K-Serb males abducted, then released. No injuries. Prizren Region : Grenade attack causes damage to 13 shops. No injuries. Pec Region : An explosion and grenade attack reported. No injuries. Mitrovica Region: UNMIK Police and KFOR personnel attacked. Minor injuries. PRISTINA Region =============== :: ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPON :: * Kosovo Polje Town - 01/01 - 0200 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after he was caught shooting into the air with an assault rifle. The weapon was confiscated. * Kosovo Polje Town - 01/01 - 0045 hrs. A K-Albanian male, who was stopped and searched after a traffic violation, was arrested by UNMIK Police when he was found in possession of a hand grenade and bayonet. * Trudna Village, Pristina - 01/01 - 0015 hrs. Two K-Albanian males were arrested by UNMIK Police after they were found in possession of a long barreled rifle and ammunition. GNJILANE Region =============== :: ABDUCTION :: Mucibaba Village, Kamenica - 31/12 - 2200 hrs. A K-Serbian father and his son were reportedly abducted by unknown suspects. They were later released unharmed due to the son having a mental disorder. No injuries were reported. Investigation continuing. ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION Kacanik Town - 31/12 2200 hrs. Two unknown males attempted to abduct a 12-year-old K-Albanian boy while he walked in front of a local restaurant. The suspects were unsuccessful and fled in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. BURGLARY Gnjilane - 31/12 - 2230 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police during an ongoing burglary of a home. PRIZREN Region GRENADE ATTACK Zhur Village, Prizren (GR: DM 690 680) - 01/01 - 0020 hrs. An explosion occurred causing property damage(mostly broken windows) to 13 shops. Two hand grenade pins and fragments of a mine were recovered from the scene by KFOR EOD. No injuries were reported. ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF WEAPON Prizren - 01/01 - 0140 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after a search of his car resulted in the recovery of a machine gun and ammunition. DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL Prizren - 01/01 - 0245 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after he was found to be driving while highly intoxicated with alcohol. His vehicle was confiscated. PEC Region ========== :: EXPLOSION :: Decani Town - 01/01 - 0200 hrs. An explosion occurred which caused the windows of nearby local shops to shatter. No injuries were reported. No further information given. GRENADE ATTACK Pec Town - 01/-01 - 2320 hrs. Unknown suspect(s) threw a hand grenade into a K-Albanian owned shop, causing damage to the door and windows. No injuries were reported. MITROVICA Region ================ :: ASSAULT ON PEACEKEEPING FORCES :: Srbica Town - 01/01 - 0005 hrs. During a New Years Eve celebration at the Municipal Building a crowd of approximately 1,500 persons became unruly and violent towards UNMIK Police officers and KFOR personnel attempting to make an arrest. Some members of the crowd were shooting into the air and throwing firecrackers indiscriminately into the crowd. While attempting to make the arrest, members of the crowd attacked the UNMIK Police officers and KFOR personnel. Warning shots were fired and during the struggle both UNMIK Police officers and KFOR personnel were beaten to the ground and kicked. During this assault one officer had his weapon and two magazines stolen. KFOR and TMK command staff members safely extracted the UNMIK Police officers and KFOR personnel from the crowd. After approximately thirty minutes the crowd dispersed with no further incident. Two UNMIK Police officers and three KPS officers did receive minor injuries during the incident. ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON * Vucitrn Town - 01/01 - 0230 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after a search of his car resulted in the recovery of a rifle. * Vucitrn Town - 01/01 - 0020 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after firing shots with a rifle from his flat. The weapon was seized. * Vucitrn Town - 31/12 - 2200 hrs. A K-Albanian male was arrested by UNMIK Police after he was found to be in possession of ammunition for an assault rifle. The ammunition was seized. BORDER Police ============= PRISTINA AIRPORT ---------------- FALSE PASSPORT / FALSE DOCUMENTS * 31/12 - 1230 hrs. Two K-Albanians were detained when they attempted to enter Kosovo on false passports. The documents were seized and the subjects were released. * 31/12 - 1600 hrs. A K-Albanian male was detained after he attempted to exit Kosovo on a false Macedonian passport. The document was seized and exit was denied. * 31/12 - 0830 hrs. A K-Albanian female was detained after she attempted to enter Kosovo on a false Belgium permit of stay and identification card. The documents were seized and the subject released. * 30/12. A K-Albanian female was detained after she attempted to exit Kosovo using a false Italian identification card and permit of stay. The documents were seized and exit was denied. CAFA PRUSHIT ------------ ILLEGAL BORDER CROSSING 31/12 - 1640 hrs. An Albanian male was detained when he attempted to exit Kosovo on an Albanian Lesser Passer.
