CRIME ACTIVITY IN KOSOVO (Year 2000)
Andrzej STEPIEN, Pristina 4 Feb 2001.
Source: UNMIK Police Crime Analysis & Statistics, Situation Reports

Recorded offences in Kosovo stabilized around 450 cases per week in the last year.

There was an increase of offences, reported by people of Kosovo, comparing to 1999. The reason is that as soon as we established our police stations in the region we were getting more and more confidence. The crime existed in Kosovo before but it was not known to police. This is a very good indication for a combating a crime in the province - we are getting support of society we are working for.

UNMIK Police recorded 32,179 crimes since 22 Aug 1999.

There were 25,046 crimes recorded in the year 2000.
